MINNEAPOLIS – Gopher Hockey senior forward Tommy Novak has signed an amateur tryout contract with the Milwaukee Admirals – the American Hockey League affiliate of the Nashville Predators. The organization drafted the forward in the third round (85th overall) of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.
A native of River Falls, Wis., Novak recorded 88 points (18 goals, 70 assists) in 129 career games as a four-year letter winner for the Maroon & Gold. The forward recorded at least 20 points in three of his four seasons with Gopher Hockey – the lone exception coming in a sophomore season shortened by injury in 2016-17. Novak closed out his collegiate career by playing in all 38 games of the 2018-19 campaign, notching 21 points (four goals, 17 assists). He helped Minnesota win two-straight Big Ten regular-season championships in 2016 and 2017, as the University of Minnesota set an NCAA record with its sixth-straight regular-season conference crown in 2017.
Novak is a three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection, earning the accolade in every year he was eligible.
