MINNEAPOLIS – Senior captain Tyler Sheehy will begin his professional career with the AHL's Iowa Wild after signing an amateur tryout contact with the organization on Friday. Sheehy will make his professional debut tonight in Stockton, Calif.

A native of Burnsville, Minn., Sheehy leaves Minnesota as the program's active leading scorer with 149 points (56 goals, 93 assists) in 149 career games. An All-American and a two-time All-Big Ten selection for the Maroon & Gold, Sheehy ranks 29th all-time at Minnesota in career scoring. He helped Minnesota capture two-straight Big Ten regular-season championships in 2016 and 2017.

Sheehy notched 41 points (12 goals, 29 assists) while playing in all 38 games as a senior for the Gophers, earning Second Team All-Big Ten honors. The forward is currently tied for the NCAA lead with 24 power-play points this season.

A two-year captain for Gopher Hockey, Sheehy was honored by the Big Ten in each of his final three seasons with Minnesota – adding Honorable Mention accolades in 2017-18 after taking home First Team All-Big Ten honors and Big Ten Player of the Year merits in 2016-17.

As a sophomore, Sheehy recorded one of the best seasons in recent Gopher Hockey history when he recorded 53 points (20 goals, 33 assists) – the most points by a member of the Maroon & Gold since Ryan Potulny scored 63 points in 2005-06.

Additionally, Sheehy is a two-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree in the classroom.
