Family-friendly spring game slated for April 13 at TCF Bank Stadium
The University of Minnesota football team will hold its annual Spring Game presented by Abbott at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 13 at TCF Bank Stadium.
The game will feature a Maroon vs. Gold battle and the winning team will hoist the prestigious Goldy Cup. Last year, Gold topped Maroon, 24-20, to claim the inaugural Goldy Cup. Game coaches, player captains and rosters for this year's tilt will be announced at a later date.
The game will once again be a family-friendly affair and will be free to attend.
The University of Minnesota marching band will also be present at the spring game and so will everyone's favorite mascot, Goldy Gopher. In addition, Goldy's Locker Room will be having a spring sale, which means there will be elite savings on Gopher gear for fans of all ages.
Abbott, which is the presenting sponsor of the game, will host a pre-game fan fest outside TCF Bank Stadium. There will be food, music and plenty of activities for children.
Gate A is the main gate that fans will use for entry and once again fans are encouraged to decorate an oar and bring it to the spring game. More than 200 personalized oars have been decorated at previous spring games and are prominently displayed in the tunnel that the team walks down before games. They are one of the final images the Gophers see before taking the field and serve as a way to connect the community and state with Gopher football.
While fans are present at the game, they will notice a variety of seats throughout TCF Bank Stadium that will be tagged as available for the upcoming 2019 season. Gopher athletic staff members will be present throughout the game to assist fans who are interested in season tickets. Season tickets are on-sale now for the 2019 season for as low as $35 per game.Â
Student-athletes and head coach P.J. Fleck will remain on the field for 30 minutes after the game for an autograph session with fans.Â
