MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- The career and legacy of Lindsay Whalen was celebrated Saturday afternoon as the Minnesota Lynx raised her No. 13 jersey to the rafters at Target Center, making it the first jersey in franchise history to be retired.

In a pregame ceremony ahead of the Lynx's nationally televised game against the Los Angeles Sparks, Whalen was joined on the court by family, friends and her former Lynx teammates as ESPN's Holly Rowe emceed. A special video tribute was played that looked back on her career from Hutchinson High School, to the University of Minnesota, to the WNBA and Olympic competition, and featured comments from former teammates, coaches and opponents.

Following the video, attention was turned to the rafters where Whalen's No. 13 jersey was unveiled next to the team's four league titles.
