Women's Gymnastics head coach, Jenny Hansen, has named former Gopher student-athlete Hannah Hitchcock as a Volunteer Assistant Coach for the upcoming season.
"We are thrilled to have Hannah transition into her new role of Volunteer Assistant Coach," Hansen said. "She has an incredible passion for the sport and our program and she will be an invaluable asset to the program in her new role."
With her new position, Hitchcock will assist with spotting, coaching all events, arranging club exhibitions at home meets, analyzing film and will work with alumni and boosters.
Hitchcock is not new to the Women's gymnastics coaching staff, as she was a Graduate Assistant Coach for the Gophers in the 2018-2019 season. As a Graduate Assistant, Hitchcock was responsible for organizing team equipment, event settings and helped foster a positive team dynamic throughout the season. Hitchcock graduated in May of 2019 with her Masters of Education from the University of Minnesota.
Hitchcock spent two summers with Edge Gymnastics Training Center in California as an Optional Coach. She coached the developmental team, level 8's, level 9's and 10's.
As a student-athlete for the Gophers, Hitchcock was a three-time letter winner, Academic All-Big Ten in 2018, All-Big Ten Second Team in 2018 and was a part of the 2016 Big Ten Regular Season Championship team. She was a member of the University of Minnesota Student Athlete Advisory Committee, was elected to the team's Leadership Committee (2016-2018) and participated in the Women in Leadership and Learning program (2015-2017). In May of 2018, Hitchcock graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education.
