MINNEAPOLIS – After back-to-back silver finishes at the FINA World Championships (1-meter) and Pan American Games (synchronized 3-meter), Sarah Bacon is finally golden. One day after her runner-up finish in the 3-meter synchronized dive, Bacon has won the gold medal in the 1-meter at the Pan Am Games with a score of 284.10.

"I just want to give a quick shout-out to my team, family, trainers, doctors and coaches for getting me here," said Bacon following the achievement.

With the top finish, Bacon has now hauled in two silvers and a gold in a span of just three weeks. Her first place score finished ahead of fellow American diver Brooke Schultz, who took home the silver in the event. Bacon and Schultz competed as a team to win yesterday's silver in the synchronized 3-meter dive.

It has been quite the month for the two-time NCAA Champion and reigning Big Ten Diver of the Year. Still, Bacon's quest in Lima is not yet through, as the women's 3-meter springboard is set to begin on Monday, August 5.
