MINNEAPOLIS -- With less than a month until the 2019-20 Gopher Hockey season gets underway, the Maroon & Gold took the ice together for the first time this week with skill instruction sessions at Ridder Arena.

With 12 newcomers to the Gophers roster including three new goaltenders, Year Two of the Bob Motzko era at the University of Minnesota will see an influx of youth to the Maroon & Gold lineup. Tickets for the 2019-20 season are now on sale ahead of the Gophers' exhibition game with Mount Royal on Sunday, Oct. 6 at 3M Arena at Mariucci. Meanwhile, the regular season once again boasts one of the best home schedules in college hockey with Big Ten opponents Wisconsin, Michigan, Notre Dame, Penn State, Ohio State and Michigan State joining nonconference opponents Minnesota Duluth, North Dakota and Niagara. Additionally, the Gophers will host an all-Minnesota Mariucci Classic this season as the holiday tournament returns with St. Cloud State, Minnesota State and Bemidji State joining Pride On Ice.
