STARTING FIVE
• The Minnesota men's basketball team faces the second of three straight opponents currently ranked in the top-25, as the Gophers host 19th-ranked Michigan Sunday in their lone matchup this season.
• Sunday's game marks the first visit by first-year Michigan head coach Juwan Howard, an All-American for the Wolverines from 1991-94. Howard's last trip to Williams Arena saw his 15th-ranked Michigan squad lose to the 20th-ranked Gophers, 70-58, on Jan. 20, 1994. Records from that game were later vacated by the NCAA.
• Sophomore center Daniel Oturu continues to put up eye-popping numbers as the season rolls on. The Woodbury native now has 10 double-doubles on the season after contributing 22 points and 10 rebounds on Thursday at Purdue. It marked Oturu's eighth 20-point game of the season after not accomplishing the feat once during his freshman season. On Jan. 2 at Purdue, he scored 29 points, his third straight 20-plus game and five better than his previous career high set at Butler on Nov. 12. He also added 18 rebounds.
• Minnesota has been tested early and often, playing one of the nation's toughest schedules in both conference and non-conference play. Through the games of Jan. 11, the Gophers' schedule ranks as the 11th toughest in NCAA Division I according to the NCAA.
• The Gophers rank highly among the nation's college basketball teams in several categories. As of Jan. 11, Minnesota is 16th in blocked shots per game (B1G: 2nd), 65th in 3-pointers made per game (B1G: 2nd), and 33rd in assists per game (B1G: 3rd). Daniel Oturu is third in rebounds per game (B1G: 1st), ninth in the country in blocks (B1G: 2nd), and 17th in field goal percentage (B1G: 2nd). Oturu's 10 double-doubles ranks fourth in the country and first in the Big Ten. Marcus Carr is 10th in the country in assists per game (B1G: 2nd). Oturu is also the Big Ten's third leading scorer, trailing Iowa's Luka Garza (22.0 ppg) and Michigan State's Cassius Winston (19.4).

SCOUTING THE WOLVERINES
• Michigan enters the weekend having won three of its last four, including a double-overtime thriller at home over Purdue, 84-78, on Thursday night. The Wolverines are 2-2 in the Big Ten and 11-4 overall, ranked 19th in both polls entering the week.
• Senior big man Jon Teske leads the Wolverines in four different categories -  scoring (14.7), rebounding (8.2), blocks (2.1),  and steals (1.1).
• Senior point guard Zavier Simpson is the nation's top assist man, totaling 133 assists while ranking second with 8.9 assists per game. He is also the team's third leading scorer at 12.1 points per game.

UP NEXT
• The Gophers conclude their two-game homestand on Wednesday night, welcoming Penn State to the Barn.
• BTN and KFAN 100.3 FM will carry the game live from Williams Arena, scheduled to tip off at 8 p.m.
