On Tuesday, January 7 the University of Minnesota women's gymnastics team visited Schwan's Company's corporate offices in Bloomington, MN to learn more about career development and opportunity after sport.
Head coach Jenny Hansen, her student-athletes, and staff from the Land O' Lakes Leadership Center, Peyton Owens and Emily Reinert, were in attendance for the site visit. The group went on a tour, met senior leaders from Schwan's, and listened to a panel discussion with three former student-athletes that are now Schwan's employees.
Gopher Athletics has a special connection with the Schwan's Company as they sponsor the Women in Leadership and Learning (W.I.L.L.) program. W.I.L.L. is a program that services student-athletes from Gopher women's programs to network and develop their professional skills with female mentors from Schwan's and other industries across the Twin Cities.
"It's so important for student-athletes to explore their career options and network through opportunities like the W.I.L.L. program and site visits, Emily Reinert, Director of Career Services, said. "Once you graduate, it will be difficult to find these opportunities on your own - so take full advantage of them now."
