STARTING FIVE
• The Minnesota men's basketball team begins a grueling stretch to close out a busy January, with the first of three road games out of the next four coming Sunday at Rutgers, the lone meeting between the two teams this year.
• Marcus Carr completed a historic feat on Sunday against Michigan, becoming the first Gopher player with 20+ points and 12+ assists while finishing with zero turnovers. His 21-point, 12-point outing was the sophomore's first career double-double and tied his career high in assists.
• Sophomore center Daniel Oturu, who earned his second Big Ten Player of the Week award on Monday, continues to put up eye-popping numbers as the season rolls on. The Woodbury native now has 11 double-doubles on the season after contributing 26 points and 14 rebounds on Wednesday in the win over Penn State. Sunday in the win over Michigan, Oturu scored a new career high of 30 points while adding seven rebounds and a steal. As of Jan. 17, Oturu is the only player in NCAA Division I averaging 20+ points and 12+ rebounds per game.
• Minnesota has been tested early and often, playing one of the nation's toughest schedules in both conference and non-conference play. Through the games of Jan. 17, the Gophers' schedule ranks as the 16th toughest in NCAA Division I according to the NCAA NET rankings.
• The Gophers rank highly among the nation's college basketball teams in several categories. As of Jan. 18, Minnesota is 23rd in blocked shots per game (B1G: 3rd), and 32nd in assists per game (B1G: 4th). Daniel Oturu is fifth in rebounds per game (B1G: 1st), 16th in the country in blocks (B1G: 2nd), and 13th in field goal percentage (B1G: 2nd). Oturu's 11 double-doubles ranks fifth in the country and first in the Big Ten. Marcus Carr is eighth in the country in assists per game (B1G: 2nd) and leads the Big Ten in minutes per game (NCAA: 21st). Oturu is also the Big Ten's second leading scorer, trailing Iowa's Luka Garza (22.9 ppg). Gabe Kalscheur leads the Big Ten in total 3-pointers made.

SCOUTING THE SCARLET KNIGHTS
• Rutgers has been one of the most impressive teams in the country to date, amassing a 12-0 record at home en route to a 13-4 mark overall, including 4-2 in Big Ten play. Winners of seven of their last eight, most recently the Scarlet Knights defeated Indiana, 59-50, on Wednesday at home.
• The Scarlet Knights are receiving votes in each of the Associated Press and Coaches polls.
• RU is led by a pair of double-digit scorers in Ron Harper Jr. (11.8 ppg) and Geo Baker (11.2 ppg).
• Rutgers is one of the nation's top defensive teams, ranking sixth in field goal percentage defense and eighth in scoring defense as they hold teams to 36.4 percent shooting and 58.8 points per game on average.

UP NEXT
• The Gophers face their first repeat opponent, traveling to Ohio State on Thursday evening for a rematch of the Gophers' 84-71 win over the Buckeyes in Minneapolis on Dec. 15.
• Fox Sports 1 and KFAN 100.3 FM will have the live broadcast of the game from Value City Arena in Columbus.
