MISSOULA, Mont. - The University of Minnesota women's tennis team earned their first win of the 2020 season over the University of Montana at PEAK Racquet Club. The Gophers earned six points over the Grizzlies, ending the day with a score of 6-1.

Redshirt freshman Dalila Said earned her first win in both the doubles and singles category. She went 2-0 on the day and was paired with doubles partner Cammy Frei

The Gophers are off to a strong start on the year, and will turn around and face the University of Utah tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. CST at PEAK Racquet Club.

DOUBLES PLAY
The duo of Said/Frei got the Gophers up on the board early, with a 6-1 victory in the No. 2 spot against Montana's Bianca Bostrom and Maria Goheen. The No. 1 doubles pairing of Tiffany Huber and Tina Kreinis would go on to clinch the point over Julia Ronney and Olivia Oosterbaan 7-6 (5).

SINGLES PLAY
Said started things off for Minnesota, earning her first career singles victory as a Gopher over Goheen 6-1, 6-1. The rest of the squad would add four more points to the score, with wins coming from Tiffany Huber, Ekin Ercetin, Cammy Frei, and Juliet Zhang

NOTABLE
Redshirt freshman Dalila Said snagged her first wins wearing Maroon and Gold. Ending the day 2-0, she was placed in the No. 2 doubles spot and the No. 3 singles spot. Tiffany Huber, Cammy Frei, and Ekin Ercetin would also end the day with a perfect 2-0 record.

QUOTABLE
"I feel very satisfied," Dalila Said said. "Coming back after a year and getting a win just shows that I've been doing the right thing."

"It's always a good feeling to start the season off on a high note with a win on the road and get a match under our belts," head coach Catrina Thompson said. "We have another match (against Utah) tomorrow that we have had tight battles with in the past. So we need to turn our focus to them and get ready for another tough match tomorrow."
