Gophers Face Ohio State On the Road

The No. 8 University of Minnesota Women's Gymnastics team heads to their third road meet of the season, traveling to Ohio State on Saturday. The meet will begin at 6 p.m. CT (7 p.m ET) and will be available on BTN +.
Last Time Out
The Maroon and Gold defeated Illinois in their home opener, 196.300-195.225. Minnesota outscored Illinois on every event except floor. The Gophers swept the podium on floor, bars and vault, while taking the top two spots on beam.
Ona Loper earned her first all-around title with a career-high score of 39.525. She won the floor and vault titles for the second week in a row, while tying her career-high on floor (9.925).
Gophers in the Polls
Minnesota checks in at No. 8 overall, falling one spot in the rankings. The Gophers remain in the top-15 on three events vault (10th), bars (15th) and beam (second). The team fell to No. 28 on floor.
Loper earned her highest individual rankings in collegiate career, coming in at No. 11 overall and tying for eighth on vault. Lexy Ramler remains in the top-25 overall, with a No. 17 ranking in the all-around. She is also ranked on beam (No. 1), bars (No. 9) and vault (No. 20). Tiarre Sales remains in the top-10 on beam for the third week in a row, checking in at No. 3.

The Gophers are tied for first in the Big Ten with Michigan, with a team score average of 196.550.
Minnesota leads the conference on the balance beam with a program-high 49.700 on the event (49.467 Avg.). The next closest team is Michigan State, who have a high-score of 49.200 and are averaging 49.025 on the event.
Beam Queens
Minnesota tied for fourth all-time in program history with a beam score of 49.400 in their most recent meet against Illinois.
In their second meet of the season, the team set a new program record on beam with a score of 49.700 at the Rutgers Quad meet. The record was previously held by the 2016 team who tallied a 49.675 at the Big Ten Qualifiers.
Ali Sonier led-off the lineup with a solid 9.850, and was followed up by a 9.950 from Ivy Lu and a 9.875 from Loper. Sitting in the four-spot, Mary Korlin-Downs set a new career-high after going 9.900. The career-highs continued when Sales recorded a 9.975, and Ramler scored her first ever, and the programs third, perfect 10 on the event. Lu and Sales each received one 10.000 from a judge on the event.
Record Setting Gophers
Ramler became the third Gopher in program history to record a perfect 10 on beam at the Rutgers quad meet, joining Ivy Lu and Hanna Nordquist as the only Gophers to accomplish this.
The junior accomplished something no Gopher gymnast has ever done this past weekend against Illinois, recording a perfect 10 in Maturi Pavilion. She scored her second perfect 10 in two weeks in front of her home crowd. No Gopher has ever recorded multiple perfect 10s, on any event, during their time at Minnesota. Ramler is also the only gymnast in the nation to have multiple perfect 10s on beam so far this season.
Minnesota posted their best opening meet team score since women's gymnastics became an NCAA sport in 1982, recording 196.475 points at Denver.
Before this week, Minnesota had been ranked No. 8 five times before, the most recent time being in 2008 (week. 1). The Gophers' No. 6 overall ranking achieved during week two, was their second highest team ranking since coming in at No. 4 in 1998 (Wk. 1) and 2000 (Wk. 21).
