MINNEAPOLIS -- It's been less than a month since the Tampa Bay Lightning won the 2020 Stanley Cup in Edmonton with Gopher Hockey alum Todd Richards on the bench, and yet several University of Minnesota products have already found new organizations to call home including the Maroon & Gold's newest Stanley Cup champion.

Todd Richards (Nashville Predators)
After four years as an assistant coach with Tampa Bay that culminated with a Stanley Cup last month, Richards joined Nashville's coaching staff as an assistant coach on Oct. 23. Tampa's 201 wins in his four years led the NHL while the Lightning also earned he 2019-10 Presidents' Trophy and two Atlantic Division titles.
Nate Schmidt (Vancouver Canucks)
The Vancouver Canucks acquired Schmidt from the Vegas Golden Knights via a trade on Oct. 12. The seven-year NHL veteran defenseman has 140 points (29 goals, 111 assists) in 396 regular-season games between the Washington Capitals and Vegas. Schmidt has helped his teams to the Stanley Cup playoffs in each of the last five seasons, tallying 25 points (six goals, 19 assists) in 68 games.
Rem Pitlick (Nashville Predators)
The Predator re-signed Pitlick to a one-year agreement on Oct. 20. The forward made his NHL debut with Nashville on March 25, 2019 after completing his junior season with the Gophers. He was also part of the organization's roster for the 2020 Stanley Cup Qualifiers.
Travis Boyd (Toronto Maple Leafs)
After six seasons in the Washington Capitals organization including three years with the NHL club, Boyd signed a one-year deal with Toronto on Oct. 10. The forward has skated in 85 regular-season NHL games with 31 points (eight goals, 23 assists). He has also played in six playoff games with one goal and was on Washington's playoff roster for the 2018 Stanley Cup run. With Toronto, Boyd will be reunited with former Gopher teammate Justin Holl.
Vinni Lettieri (Anaheim Ducks)
Lettieri inked a one-year deal with Anaheim on Oct. 10 after five years in the New York Rangers organization. In 46 regular-season NHL games, the forward has eight points (two goals, six assists).
Kyle Rau (Minnesota Wild)
The Gopher Hockey All-American captain re-signed with Minnesota for a one-year deal on Oct. 8. In four NHL seasons between the Florida Panthers and Minnesota, Rau has five points (two goals, three assists) in 42 regular-season games and added his first playoff game with the Wild in 2018.
Mark Alt (Los Angeles Kings)
After three years with the Colorado Avalanche organization, Alt signed a one-year deal with Los Angeles on Oct. 10. The defenseman has skated in 18 regular-season NHL games between the Phildalphia Flyers and the Avalanche.
