Meet the Freshmen: Ben Lunn

Up next in our Meet the Freshmen series is Shakopee, Minnesota native Ben Lunn. He was a three-time Minnesota state finalist and a key contributor to back-to-back Minnesota state team titles under Shakopee head coach Jim Jackson. Lunn's other accomplishments include being a member of the 2018 Minnesota Cadet National Team member, as well as a two-time placewinner at the USA Folkstyle Nationals.
Now, Ben Lunn makes the thirty-minute trip to Dinkytown to continue his wrestling career at the University of Minnesota. Get to know the incoming freshman as he looks to add to the success of his hometown Maroon & Gold.
GopherSports: What made you choose the University of Minnesota?
Lunn: Well, the University of Minnesota is close to my hometown and my family. Also, I definitely think this the place where I can become the best version of myself.
GS: What makes you the most excited about becoming a Golden Gopher wrestler?
Lunn: I am excited to be able to see the improvements that I make in my wrestling through this program, and also to be able to have the opportunity to chase my goals as an athlete.
GS: How would you describe your wrestling style?
Lunn: I would describe my style of wrestling as very technical. I pride myself in being able to wrestle through positions well.
GS: Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of wrestling?
Lunn: One of my favorite things to do would be fishing. I'm also a big fan of Guitar Hero and ping pong.
GS: What is your planned major?
Lunn: Finance
