IOWA CITY - The University of Minnesota wrestling program fell to the top-ranked Iowa Hawkeyes 35-6 on Saturday night in front of 12,608 at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
The two individual Maroon and Gold victories came from Owen Webster and Gable Steveson, both Minnesota natives.
Competing at the school his namesake, Dan Gable, made into a dynasty, heavyweight Gable Steveson made his Carver-Hawkeye debut with a 7-5 decision over No.3 Tony Cassioppi.
Steveson won the takedown battle 3-0 and still has not been taken down this season. He improves to 28-0 in duals across his two seasons in Maroon and Gold with 13 straight victories dating back to the 2019 NCAA Championships.
