Following an outstanding performance at the 2020 Winter Cup Challenge, Shane Wiskus has been named the Big Ten and CGA Gymnast of the Week, the organizations announced Tuesday. It is the third time Wiskus has earned the honors this season.

The Winter Cup Challenge features top talent from the NCAA and national ranks, and Wiskus came in second place all-around with a score of 84.550. He placed only behind two-time Olympian and Michigan alum Sam Mikulak, the best collegiate finisher in the entire meet. With a top six performance on day one, he automatically retained his spot on the U.S. Senior National Team.

On day two of the competition, Wiskus posted top 10 finishes on each event that he compiled two-day scores. The 2019 USA Gymnastics vault national champion was the event leader after the preliminary session, and he tied for second in event finals for his best finish of the day (28.750). He also placed seventh on high bar with a two-day score of 26.600 and eighth on floor with a mark of 27.950.

Wiskus, a 2019 World Championships team member, will keep his position on the Senior National Team until the U.S. Championships in June, which is another marquee event in his journey to qualifying for the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.
