With the final day of the 2020 Big Ten Championships wrapped up, the Minnesota swimming & diving team finished eighth overall with 551 points.
Once again, the highlight of the night belonged to sophomore Max McHugh, who took home his second medal of the meet in the 200 breaststroke. McHugh finished third overall in the event, touching in a time of 1:45.64.
Looking forward, McHugh will head to Indianapolis at the end of March to compete in the NCAA Championships in both the 100 and 200 breast.
Competing alongside McHugh in the 200 breast finals session was junior Eitan Yudashkin, who recorded a 19th overall finish, touching in 1:56.52.
Outside of McHugh, the best finish of the night belonged to senior Tuomas Pokkinen. Pokkinen touched 10th overall in the 200 fly (1:45.21), dropping just under a full second off of his previous lifetime best and climbing up six spots from his preliminary time seeding. Matthew Thomas finished 18th in the event as well, touching in 1:45.64.
Cale Berkoff and Gavin Olson took on Saturday's backstroke event for the Maroon and Gold again, this time in the 200. The pair touched 22nd (1:45.89) and 23rd (1:46.39), respectively.
Junior Cameron Kelley led the charge for Minnesota in the 1650 free, finishing in a final time of 15:20.38 for a 16th overall finish. Also scoring for the Gophers was Aidan Dulaney, who finished 24th overall after dropping over 23 seconds off of his previous lifetime best.
In the diving well, Jeremy Moser was the lone Gopher to compete in the platform diving finals session. After five rounds, Moser scored 67.20 on his final dive, his best of the night, boosting his flight score to 12th overall (313.95).
Lifetime bests were aplenty for the Maroon and Gold Saturday night, with nine different Gophers recording career best performances.

Quotable
"I am really proud of this team and, for the most part, we made the most out of what we have," said head coach Kelly Kramer. "I appreciate how our men kept fighting and never let negativity in, even when adversity was at its highest. Our seniors were simply outstanding this weekend. Can't say enough about their leadership and the impact they have had on Gopher Swimming and Diving. We will be much better and stronger moving forward with the lessons learned so far this year."
