Scobee Earns WCHA Monthly Accolades

Sydney Scobee has been named the WCHA Goaltender of the Month for January 2020.
MINNEAPOLIS -- Senior goaltender Sydney Scobee has been selected as the WCHA Goaltender of the Month for her play during January 2020, the WCHA announced Wednesday. Scobee picks up her second WCHA monthly award of the season and second of her career after posting a 6-3-0 record in nine games last month.
Scobee led the WCHA with six wins and two shutouts along with a league-high 519:32 played during January 2020. She ranked third in the league with a 1.96 goals against average and was fifth among WCHA netminders with a .918 save percentage for the month. In conference play, Scobee ranked second with a 1.95 goals against average and third with a .925 save percentage.
The Minnetrista, Minn., native opened play in 2020 by leading Minnesota to a non-conference sweep over Yale, combining for 28 saves on 32 shots faced in the series. She improved to 4-0-0 in January by logging 48 saves in a WCHA sweep at St. Cloud State, including securing a 28-save shutout in a 3-0 win over the Huskies to wrap up the series sweep. Scobee made 29 saves in a 2-1 win over No. 5 Ohio State outdoors on Hockey Day Minnesota before earning her seventh shutout of the season with 17 saves in a 5-0 win over No. 9 Minnesota Duluth.
For the season, Scobee leads the WCHA with a .934 save percentage and a 1.59 goals against average. Her seven shutouts are tops in the league and rank third in the nation. Scobee has been in net for the Maroon & Gold in 96.3% of the team's total minutes and leads the country at 1602:48 total minutes played this season.
