Four Gophers Qualify for Finals on Day Three of Zone D Championships

With competition of the NCAA Zone D Championships coming to a close Wednesday afternoon, five Gopher divers will represent the University of Minnesota in either Athens, Ga. or Indianapolis, Ind. at the 2020 NCAA Championships.
Jae Sarkis was the lone member of the Maroon and Gold to secure a spot in day three's platform diving event, as the sophomore recorded a ninth place finish in preliminaries (242.00). In Wednesday's finals session however, Sarkis fell to 13th with a final 12-dive score of 464.65.
On the men's side of the well, three Gophers qualified for the afternoon's finals session. Maxim Royzen led the way in the preliminaries as a six dive score of 319.00 earned him 10th place coming into the finals session. Ryan Phillip (307.05) and Jeremy Moser (306.35) were close behind the junior, qualifiing in 12th and 13th places, respectively.
The finals session ended the way it started for the men, as Royzen recorded the best finish of the day for the Gophers in 10th (623.70), and both Phillip (592.05, 12th) and Moser (588.35, 13th) held their places as well.
