Lexy Ramler wrapped up the 2019 season with a fifth place finish on beam at the NCAA Championships and closed out the 2020 season as the No. 1 ranked gymnast on the event. She became the first Gopher to record back-to-back perfect 10s and is the only gymnast in program history to have multiple perfect 10s in one season. Read more about Ramler and the 2020 season below.

Gopher Sports: What was it like competing at NCAA Nationals? What did you learn from that experience?
Lexy Ramler: It was an incredible experience. Going into the competition and throughout competing, I really focused on taking in each moment. After finishing my last event and discovering the results, I had so many emotions, but overall, I was really just proud. I was proud of my hard work, my performance, and representing the Maroon and Gold. From this experience, I learned that I am able to handle these high pressure situations as well as have the confidence of competing in this environment.

GS: What makes this team different compared to others?
LR: This year's team is really just confident in our abilities. We have worked so hard as a team this year and to see our hard work pay off so far has been a confidence booster. We are one team with the same goals in mind.

GS: What was going through your mind during your routine when you scored your first perfect 10 on beam?
LR: When it was my turn to compete, I had little nerves. The beam team was flawless and really set the pace. I was able to really just enjoy the moment and take it all in. As I was going through the routine, I was noticing that it was going really well and I had to catch myself from getting too far ahead. In the middle of my dismount, I knew I was going to stick it and I knew I put up a good routine. Then to see both judges give me a 10.00 and my teammates hugging me and cheering so loud is a memory I will cherish forever.

GS: You have been one of the nation's top performers on beam this season. How have you stepped up your game on that event since last year?
LR: On beam this year, I really have just been focusing on the little details like a confident mindset and learning from each meet. I approach every single beam routine the same in the gym and in competition, one thing at a time and in the present moment.

GS: What has it been like being teammates with Halle Remlinger again?
LR: I absolutely love being teammates with Halle again. We share so many memories from club and it's so much fun to be making more in college. Training with her reminds me of old times and I look forward to sharing my last few years of gymnastics with her.

GS: What is your pre-meet routine like? Do you have any superstitions?
LR: My pre-meet routine includes good rest the night before and good music as I am getting ready. I don't really have any superstitions, but I do wear the same earrings for every meet.

GS: What do you like to do outside of gymnastics?
LR: Outside of gymnastics, I love spending time with friends and family. I especially enjoy hanging out with my roommate and my Bud - Ona Loper.
