MINNEAPOLIS – Five members of the Minnesota women's basketball team have taken home season honors from the Big Ten, the conference announced Monday.

Senior Taiye Bello was a consensus All-Big Ten Second Team selection by the league's coaches and media, while freshman Jasmine Powell was a consensus pick for both All-Big Ten Honorable Mention and the Big Ten All-Freshman Team. Meanwhile, redshirt junior Gadiva Hubbard was an All-Big Ten Honorable Mention honoree by the media, as was freshman Sara Scalia, who also earned a place on the media's Big Ten All-Freshman Team. In addition, senior captain Jasmine Brunson was tabbed as the school's Sportsmanship Award representative for the second straight year.

Bello garnered accolades for the second straight season after earning consensus All-Big Ten Honorable Mention honors a year ago.

She leads the Big Ten with 9.6 rebounds per game and 270 total rebounds and is second in the conference with 11 double-doubles and 3.9 offensive rebounds per contest. In addition, Bello is tied for the team lead with 11.9 points per contest while shooting 50 percent from the field and has a team-best 46 blocks. Bello had arguably the best game of her career on Feb. 2 in a double overtime win over Rutgers as she grabbed a career-high 22 rebounds and scored 19 points, including a 15-of-19 performance at the free throw line.

Hubbard's Honorable Mention honor is the first of her career.

She is the only Gopher to start all 29 games this year and is averaging 11.1 points, 3.3 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.7 steals while playing 32.4 minutes per game. Hubbard ranks sixth in the Big Ten this year in 3-pointers attempted (167), eighth in 3's made (57) and 3's made per game (1.97), and 10th in steals per contest. With 10 points at Ohio State on Feb. 13, she became the 26th player in Gophers history to reach 1,000 points in her career. She did it in just 80 games, the 12th fewest needed to get to 1,000 points in team history.

Powell, who has started each of the past 10 games after coming off the bench in the previous 19, leads the team in field goal attempts (316), free throws made and attempted (93-121) and assists (87), is second in steals (40) and scoring (11.9). A two-time Big Ten Freshman of the Week, she leads all conference freshmen in scoring and free throw percentage (.769), and is third in assists (3.0) and steals per game (1.4) and assist-to-turnover ratio (1.0).

Scalia, who has started every contest this year except for the season opener, is tied for the team lead in 3-pointers made (57), is second in field goals made (113),  3-pointers attempted (151), 3-point pct. (.377; min. 40 attempts), rebounds (121), minutes played (938) and minutes per game (32.3) and fourth in scoring (11.0). A two-time Big Ten Freshman of the Week like Powell, Scalia leads all freshmen in the conference in 3's made per game (2.0), is second in minutes per game and fourth in steals per contest (1.3).

With Powell and Scalia both earning spots on the Big Ten All-Freshman Team, it's the first time in program history that the Gophers have had multiple players named to the team in one season.

Brunson is averaging 9.4 points, 2.9 assists, 2.6 rebounds and 1.4 steals over 27 games this season.

As the No. 11 seed in the Big Ten Tournament, the Gophers (15-14, 5-13 B1G) will open play on Wednesday at approximately 3:30 p.m. CT against No. 14 Penn State (7-22, 1-17) on Big Ten Network.
