As Gopher Wrestling looks ahead to the 2020-21 season, GopherSports.com looks back at the top moments from the 2019-20 campaign.
Next up is Patrick McKee's first match as a Golden Gopher. In Minnesota's season-opening 28-9 win against Cal State Bakersfield on November 1, the redshirt freshman took to the mat at 125 pounds and delivered a pin in just 54 seconds against Alex Hernandez-Figueroa.
McKee finished the year with a 17-8 record, including a 9-4 mark in dual meets. He also qualified for the 2020 NCAA Championships.
Quotable: "I've been coming to Gopher duals since I was eight or nine years old just watching the greats wrestle before me. So it was kinda cool that now it's my turn to run out there. As a fan I always used to watch and think so much about it. Now as a wrestler I just try to simplify it as best I can."
Notable: The last time Minnesota's dual meet season started with a fall was on November 9, 2012 when David Thorn pinned No. 4-ranked Steve Bonanno of Hofstra.
