MINNEAPOLIS - The Golden Gopher women's hockey team welcomes eight newcomers to the program for the 2020-21 season in freshmen Addie Burton, Anne Cherkowski, Josey Dunne, Tella Jungels, Abbey Murphy, Maggie Nicholson, and Audrey Wethington and redshirt senior goaltender Lauren Bench.

- Wethington is the seventh Gopher to wear Number 4, joining Tianna Gunderson, Becky Kortum, Sarah Erickson, Andrea Nichols, Chelsey Brodt, and Nadine Muzerall.
- Three Gophers have worn Number 4 for all four years of their careers: Muzerall (1997-98 to 2000-01), Nichols (2003-04 to 2006-07), and Erickson (2008-09 to 2011-12).
- Wethington is the sixth Gopher forward to wear Number 4 as Brodt is the lone Gopher blue liner to don the Number 4 jersey.
- Cherkowski is the sixth Gopher to wear Number 11, joining Kelsey Cline, Becky Kortum, Lindsay Block, Ashley Albrecht, and Tai Thorsheim.
- Two Gophers have worn Number 11 for all four years of their careers: Albrecht (2002-03 to 2005-06) and Cline (2013-14 to 2016-17).
- Cherkowski is the first Canada native to wear Number 11 for the Maroon & Gold.
- Nicholson is the eighth Gopher to wear Number 14, joining Lindsay Agnew, Maryanne Menefee, Chelsey Jones, Tiffany Johnson, Lindsay Block, La Toya Clarke, and Brittny Ralph.
- Clarke is the lone Gopher to have worn Number 14 for all four years of her career (2000-01 to 2003-04).
- Nicholson is the first Gopher to wear Number 14 since Agnew wore it for two seasons in 2016-17 and 2017-18.
- Dunne is the seventh Gopher to wear Number 17, joining Sierra Smith, Jordyn Burns, Emily West, Becky Wacker, Cecilia Retelle, and Ambria Thomas.
- Three Gophers have worn Number 17 for all four years of their careers: Wacker (2003-04 to 2006-07), West (2007-08 to 2011-12), and Smith (2015-16 to 2018-19).
- Six states are represented among the Gophers to wear Number 17: Alaska (Thomas), Wisconsin (Retelle), Maine (Wacker), Colorado (West), Minnesota (Burns and Smith), and Missouri (Dunne).
- Murphy is the sixth Gopher to wear Number 18, joining Katie Robinson, Brook Garzone, Nikki Ludwigson, Kelly Stephens, and Emily Buchholz.
- All five Gophers to wear Number 18 have done so for all four years of their careers.
- A Gopher has worn Number 18 in all but three seasons in the program's 23-year history (2005-06, 2006-07, and 2007-08).
- Jungels is the seventh Gopher to wear Number 19, joining Kelly Pannek, Megan Bozek, Gigi Marvin, Melissa Coulombe, Amber Hegland, and Heather Alm.
- Four Gophers have worn Number 19 for all four years of their careers: Coulombe (2000-01 to 2003-04), Marvin (2005-06 to 2008-09), Bozek (2009-10 to 2012-13), and Pannek (2014-15 to 2018-19).
- Three Team USA Olympians have worn Number 19 for the Gophers: Marvin, Bozek, and Pannek.
- Burton is the fifth Gopher to wear Number 26, joining Sarah Potomak, Michelle Maunu, Laura Cecko, and Alyson Sundberg.
- Two Gophers have worn Number 26 for all four years of their careers: Maunu (2006-07 to 2009-10) and Potomak (2015-16 to 2019-20).
- Burton is the fourth forward to wear Number 26 for the Maroon & Gold as Maunu is the lone blue-liner to don the Number 26 jersey.
- Bench is the third Gopher to wear Number 35, joining Stephanie Johnson and Crystal Nicholas.
- This year marks just the fifth season with a Number 35 on the Gophers' roster and the first season since Johnson wore it in 2001-02.
- Bench also wore Number 35 for four seasons at Bemidji State (2016-17 to 2019-20).
