Top Moments: Nanne Strikes Early at CC

>MINNEAPOLIS – As Gopher Hockey prepares for a historic season in 2020-21, GopherSports.com takes one last look back at the 2019-20 campaign with our Top Moments of the Season.

The list begins exactly where you would assume it would – with the first official goal of the season, coming off the stick of senior captain Tyler Nanne. And it didn't take long as the defenseman opened the year with a goal just 1:53 into the regular season on Oct. 12 at Colorado College, pounding the puck home from the point in a senior campaign that saw Nanne set a new career high for points.

It was also Nanne's first goal wearing the No. 2 jersey for the Gophers after wearing No. 29 for his first three years with the program. The first third generation player in Pride on Ice history, Nanne changed to No. 2 as a senior – the same number worn by his grandfather, Lou Nanne, who also served as a team captain for the Maroon & Gold during the 1962-63 season.

In a symbolic statistic, Nanne scored the first of 100 goals for the Maroon & Gold during the 2019-20 season as Gopher Hockey enters its 100th season in 2020-21.
