Gophers Close Out Purdue Fall Invitational

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Minnesota men's golf team finished in 10th place as play concluded at the Purdue Fall Invitational at the Kampen Golf Course in West Lafayette, Indiana.
Minnesota shot a final round 290 to finish with a 26-over 890 (307-293-290). Working around multiple weather delays throughout the event, Indiana (289-288-281--858) claimed the team title and bested Purdue by one stroke. Individually, Purdue's Herman Wibe Sekne earned the top spot on the leaderboard.
Junior Antoine Sale was Minnesota's top finisher in a tie for 20th at 1-over par. After recording a 77 opening round, Sale completed the second round at 68 and carded a 72 final round to end the tournament.
Lincoln Johnson completed his tournament in a tie for 31st with a 2-over 74, leaving him at 5-over with a 221 for 54 holes. Sophomore Ben Warian followed one stroke behind in a tie for 36th. After recording a 77 and 76 in the first two rounds, Warian impressed with a final round score of 69.
Playing as an individual, Connor Glynn moved up the leaderboard to tie for 54th as he posted a 74 in the final day of competition to record a 228 for the tournament.
Also competing for the Gophers in their starting lineup were senior Harry Plowman-Ollington and freshman Bennett Swavely. Plowman finished tied for 64th with a 231 (79-77-75), while Swavely came in a tie for 73rd with a 54 hole total of 238 (78-82-78).
It is a quick turnout for Minnesota as it heads to the Isleworth Collegiate this weekend (Oct. 17-19) at the Isleworth Golf and Country Club in Windermere, Florida. The team will play 18 holes each day, Sunday through Tuesday.
