MINNEAPOLIS -- In the final tournament of the fall slate, the University of Minnesota men's golf team finished in 14th place at the Isleworth Collegiate in Windermere, Florida.
Competing at the Isleworth Golf and Country Club, sophomore Ben Warian led the Gophers as the top finisher for the Maroon and Gold. Warian finished in a tie for 22nd (73-73-73--219) in the field after he recorded a 1-over final round.
Winning the individual title was Piercen Hunt of Illinois, shooting a 7-under 209 at the tournament. That was followed by UCF's Johnny Travale at 6-under and two golfers in a tie for third at 5-under. As a team, Arizona State took the title at 11-under par with Illinois closely behind in second place after shooting 9-under.
Lincoln Johnson was the next Gopher on the leaderboard, tying for 29th at 4-over for the tournament (74-72-76--220). The senior jumped out to a 2-under back nine with two birdies, but lost momentum after the turn to card a 4-over final round.
Junior Antoine Sale wrapped up his tournament in a tie for 54th at 11-over par (73-75-79--227) and was followed by Harrison Arnold in 69th. Arnold produced an 18-over 234 (78-77-79) over the span of the three-day event.
Rounding out the Gophers' contingent was freshman Bennett Swavely who came in 73rd at 21-over with a 54-hole score of 237 (81-77-79--237).
Minnesota's five-tournament fall schedule has now come to a close with two top-10 finishes. The Golden Gophers will resume play this spring with a full spring schedule to be released at a later date.
