'U' to Row at Head of the Charles

The 'U' will row in the Women's Championship Eights on Sunday, Oct. 24 at 1:25 p.m. CT.
MINNEAPOLIS -- The University of Minnesota rowing program will be back in action this weekend, competing at the Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston.
The Gophers will send the First Varsity Eight Boat to the event to rowing in the Women's Championship Eights on Sunday, Oct. 24 at 1:25 p.m. CT.
Projected Lineup
1V8 -- Coxswain: Isabella Bejaran, Sarah Weyrauch, Lindsay Eliasen, Harriet Haege, Cecilie Christensen, Meg Messer, Melissa Wiebke, Gabby Mullally, Kirrali Schofield.
About the Head of the Charles
Since its inception in 1965, the Head Of The Charles Regatta has attracted hundreds of thousands of rowers to the banks of the Charles River. The three-day event is capped by a full day of racing on Sunday, Oct. 24 including the Maroon & Gold competing in the Women's Championship Eights. Also slated to compete in the race are Stanford, Yale, Princeton, Brown, Syracuse, Penn, Northeastern, Boston University, Cornell and USC.
Gophers Name Trio of Captains
The University of Minnesota rowing program and head coach Alicea Strodel have announced team captains for the 2021-22 season with Lindsay Eliasen, Gabby Mullally and Casey Wempner leading the Maroon & Gold. Eliasen and Mullally return as captains for the second-straight year while Wempner joins the leadership group this year.
Last Time Out: Head of the Mississippi
The University of Minnesota rowing program took to the water for the first time this year on earlier this month at the Head of the Mississippi Regatta, winning each of the three races they competed in at the event (Women's Collegiate Freshman 8+, Women's Collegiate 4+, Women's Collegiate 8+)
Next Up: Wisconsin
The Maroon & Gold conclude the fall schedule with a competition against Wisconsin on Saturday, Nov. 6 at Devil's Lake in Baraboo, Wis.
