Warian Shines, Golden Gophers Tie for Eighth at Rich Harvest Farms Intercollegiate

MINNEAPOLIS- The University of Minnesota men's golf team finished in a tie for eighth place at the conclusion of the Rich Harvest Farms Intercollegiate at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Ill.
After a 4-over 292 in round one and a 3-under 282 in round two, the Golden Gophers posted another 3-under 285 in their final day of competition. Purdue won the team title with a 21-under 843, while Herman Wibe Senke of the Boilermakers took home the individual crown with an 11-under 205.
Sophomore Ben Warian was the top Gophers' competitor, as he finished tied for 18th. In Monday's final round, he carded a 6-under 66 to finish -2 for the tournament. His round was highlighted by a birdie on No. 18 and five straight birdies on holes three through seven.
Lincoln Johnson finished Monday with his best round of the tournament, a 1-under 71. That moved him from a tie for 35th after round two into a tie for 31st at 1-over. The senior recorded an even-par back nine with three birdies and a 1-under front nine on a birdie on No. 8.
Coming in at a tie for 37th was Antoine Sale and Bennett Swavely as they finished +2. After a 2-over back nine and 1-over front nine, Sale finished with a 3-over 75 on Monday. He shot three birdies on the day. Swavely continued to impress as a freshman, carding a 1-over 73 final round. He also had three birdies, with two coming on the back nine.
Harrison Arnold finished in sole possession of 77th place. The junior struggled with a 5-over back nine, but turned it around and finished with an even-par front after exchanging a pair of birdies and bogeys.
Competing as an individual, Harry Plowman-Ollington tied for 58th with a 7-over 223.
Minnesota is back in action next week at the Purdue Fall Invitational at the Kampen Golf Course in West Lafayette, Ind. Competition begins on Monday, October 11th with 36 holes and will conclude on Tuesday, October 12th with the final 18.
