MINNEAPOLIS -- The Gopher men's hockey team is finally back in action this weekend with Mercyhurst coming to 3M Arena at Mariucci for the opening series of the 2021-22 season. All-American defenseman Jackson LaCombe checks in to preview the season in the newest episode of Gopher Talk, presented by Affinity Plus.
A native of Eden Prairie, Minn., LaCombe led all Big Ten defensemen in scoring last season with a career-high 21 points. The Anaheim Ducks prospect not only helped the Maroon & Gold win the Big Ten tournament title and return to the NCAA tournament, he was also one of three Minnesota defensemen to win a gold medal with the U.S. National Junior Team at the IIHF World Junior Championship.
