The 2021 Minnesota Ms. Hockey Award recipient earns WCHA's best freshman honors in first month with the Gophers.

MINNEAPOLIS – Freshman forward Peyton Hemp has been selected as WCHA Rookie of the Month after notching 11 points in 10 games in an impressive first month with the Gophers.

The 2021 Minnesota Ms. Hockey Award winner takes home her first WCHA monthly award in her first month of collegiate competition. Hemp leads all WCHA freshmen in points (3g-8a) and tops the Gophers in +/- rating with +10. The Andover High School product scored her first career goal, and the Gophers' first of the season, on opening night against the Buckeyes. The freshman has two game winning goals this season and has played on the first or second line in every series. Hemp's 11 points, good for second on the Maroon and Gold, have come in a challenging part of the schedule with three series against top-six ranked opponents. This is the Gophers' fourth WCHA Rookie of the Month Award and first since Amy Potomak took home the honors in December of 2018. Hemp is the first Gopher to win the award in their first month of competition.

No. 3 Minnesota (7-3-0) will return to Ridder Arena for a series against RIT on Nov. 12-13.
