The Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA) released their preseason poll on Friday morning and have ranked the Gophers at No. 9 in the nation, tallying 1803 points.

The Gophers jumped up two spots after being ranked No. 11 in last season's WCGA Preseason Poll. The No 9 spot this season is the highest preseason ranking in program history. Minnesota is one of nine Big Ten teams to be ranked in the top 36, with only last season's National Champion Michigan coming ahead of them at No. 1.

The preseason ranking comes after the Gophers had one of the most successful seasons in program history in 2021. The season was highlighted by the program's first Big Ten Championship since 2006 and claiming a spot at the National Championship for the first time under the new eight-team format.

Minnesota broke numerous team records in 2021 including a new team score record of 197.750 set at the Big Ten Championship. Minnesota also set a new record on floor (49.575) and uneven bars (49.575) while notching the second-highest vault score in program history (49.525) at the NCAA Regional Semifinal and third-highest beam score (49.600).
