Head coach Jenny Hansen has announced the addition of Minnesota native Megan Steensland to the newest signing class. Steensland joins Seria Johnson, Sarah Moraw and Brooklyn Rowray as the fourth member of the class of 2026.
"We are thrilled to welcome Megan to the Golden Gopher family," Hansen said. 'Megan continues the trend of strong and talented Minnesota athletes choosing to stay home and bring great success to our program. With half of our roster consisting of local athletes, we are excited to continue to showcase the strength of our sport in Minnesota. Megan is particularly strong on vault, beam and floor and we look forward to seeing her develop during her time as a Gopher. In addition, she is an excellent student and an immediate fit with the culture of our program."
The newest Gopher hails from Eden Prairie, Minn and competes at Legacy Gymnastics. She medaled on floor at JO Nationals in 2021 and boasts high scores of 9.650 on floor, 9.675 on vault and 9.600 on beam. Academically, she has been on the honor roll each year of high school so far.
"I grew up going to University of Minnesota meets, so I have always wanted to be a Gopher," Steensland said. "I have gone to a lot of camps and after my first camp I realized I love the coaching staff and the team. I am so excited to finally be part of the team and get to know everyone. I have wanted to do college gymnastics ever since I can remember, so I am very excited to compete at the collegiate level."
In her free time, Steensland enjoys baking and often bakes and decorates cakes for family members. She intends to major in interior design.
