No. 4 Minnesota closed out the regular season with a 9-1 win for a road sweep at Bemidji State.
BEMIDJI, Minn. -- The No. 4 University of Minnesota women's hockey team used a convincing 9-1 win over the Beavers on Saturday afternoon to close out the regular season with a road sweep.
Fourteen different Gophers recorded at least one point in the game as Minnesota (11-7-1, 11-7-1 WCHA) was led by Grace Zumwinkle (1g-3a), Abbey Murphy (2g-1a), and Madeline Wethington (1g-2a). Makayla Pahl and Olivia King split time in net for the Gophers with Pahl making six saves on seven shots over the first 40 minutes before King stopped all four shots she faced in the third period.
Bemidji State (2-14-2, 2-14-2 WCHA) got its lone goal from Paige Anderson, and Hannah Hogenson made five saves on nine shots in the opening 12:36 before Kerigan Dowhy relieved her and made 22 saves on 27 shots in the rest of the game. The Gophers had a 36-11 advantage in shots on goal.
The Gophers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the game's opening three minutes before BSU got on the board, but Minnesota tacked on two more goals before the end of the first period. The rest of the game was all Minnesota as the Gophers scored twice in the second period, including Crystalyn Hengler's third power-play goal of the season, and added three more in the third.

"Well, a really fun weekend here," head coach Brad Frost said. "To get a sweep on the road is a big deal in the WCHA and to play as well as our team did was really exciting to watch. Also, having Olivia King in there in the third period, getting her first career time as a Gopher -- she has worked so hard for the last year and a half to earn this opportunity, and we're really happy and proud of her for getting in there and shutting the door. Overall, a great weekend, and we're looking forward to the playoffs coming up."
