Minnesota Heads Back to the Sunshine State for Florida State Match-Up

The Minnesota women's golf team continues February tournament play on Friday, Feb. 26 at the 8th Annual Florida State Match-Up Tournament in Tallahassee, Fla. Over three days and 54 holes of stroke play, the Gophers will take on 13 other teams at the 6,255 yard, par-72 Seminole Legacy Golf Course.

Traveling to the Sunshine State for the Maroon and Gold are seniors Joanne Free and Grace Kellar along with sophomores Annabelle Ackroyd, Emma Carpenter and Grace Curran.

Joining Minnesota and host Florida State in the field are Clemson, Coastal Carolina, Jacksonville, Kansas St, Kent State, Notre Dame, Memphis, Mercer, Michigan State, Missouri, Ohio State and USF. 

Play begins on Friday morning with live scoring available throughout the tournament via Golfstat.

Last time out in the first action of the season, the Gophers finished T-14th at the Heroes Ladies Intercollegiate at the Founders Club. Curran (74-74-71--219) ended the tournament tied for 20th at 3-over par, the top finisher for the Maroon and Gold. This was Curran's second career top-20 finish. The sophomore also posted a career-low 54-hole score (219) and a career-low final round score (71). 

Carpenter (78-73-74--225) was the next highest on the leaderboard for the Gophers, who ended the event tied for 39th place. Ackroyd ended the tournament in 63rd place (85-72-76--233) and Kellar (85-80-75--240) finished tied for 70th. Freshman Kira Wolf closed her first showing for Minnesota at 75th (90-77-94--261).
