Former Gophers are the 18th and 19th alums to win a Super Bowl

Antoine Winfield Jr., and Tyler Johnson are Super Bowl Champions.

The former Gopher teammates just wrapped up their rookie NFL season with a 31-9 win against the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LV.

Winfield and Johnson are the 18th and 19th former Gophers to win a Super Bowl. They did so by beating another former Gopher in Damien Wilson, who is a starting linebacker for the Chiefs. Wilson led Kansas City with 10 tackles in the Super Bowl and prevented a Buccaneer touchdown with a goal line tackle on fourth down.

Winfield made six tackles in the Super Bowl and intercepted Patrick Mahomes in the second half, as the Buccaneers won the championship in their home stadium.

Johnson, who ended his collegiate career with 12 catches for 204 yards and two touchdowns in an Outback Bowl win in Tampa Bay's Raymond James Stadium, didn't record a catch in the Super Bowl. However, he provided terrific blocking from the receiver position and was a stalwart in the blocking game on special teams as well.
