MINNEAPOLIS – The Nashville Predators rewarded Gopher Hockey All-American Rem Pitlick with an opportunity to make his NHL debut front of a hometown crowd at Xcel Energy Center in 2018-19 after signing with the NHL organization following the forward's junior season at Minnesota.
This year, there's no doubt that the former Maroon & Gold standout has earned his way into the Predators lineup.
A third round selection (76th overall) by Nashville in 2016, Pitlick made his season debut on March 7 and has now played in the last three games for the Predators after emerging as one of the top scorers in the American Hockey League this season.
In eight games with the Chicago Wolves in the AHL (the Milwaukee Admirals – Nashville's normal AHL affiliate is not competing this season), Pitlick has 10 points while his eight goals this season lead Chicago and rank fifth overall in the league.
A native of Plymouth, Minn., Pitlick recorded 108 points (47 goals, 61 assists) in 112 career games during his three-year career with the Maroon & Gold. The forward closed out his career with First Team All-America and First Team All-Big Ten honors in 2018-19 as heposted his best collegiate season with career highs for points (45), goals (21) and assists (24). His 21 goals that year were the most by a Gopher since All-American Nick Bjugstad scored 21 during the 2012-13 season. The junior notched points in 31 of Minnesota's 38 games in his final season including a career-long 13-game point streak.
Pitlick also led the Maroon & Gold in scoring as a sophomore in 2017-18 with 31 points (12 goals, 19 assists) while recording Big Ten All-Freshman honors as a rookie in 2016-17 with 32 points (14 goals, 18 assists).
Additionally, Pitlick was a two-time Academic All-Big Ten selection (earning the distinction every year he was eligible) and a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar.
