Gophers Earn 3-0 Win Over Wildcats

The No. 4 University of Minnesota volleyball team earned a 3-0 win over Northwestern, tonight in Evanston, Ill. With the win, the Golden Gophers improve to 12-2 overall and in the Big Ten Conference. Northwestern, who hadn't played a match since Feb. 27, is now 3-4 this season.

Stephanie Samedy led the Gophers with 12 kills and hit .435 in 23 attempts. Regan Pittman had eight kills in 10 swings and hit .700. Taylor Landfair had seven kills, five blocks and hit .357. Shea Rubright contributed nine blocks, while Rachel Kilkelly had 10 digs. Melani Shaffmaster returned to the lineup and had a match-best 26 assists, six digs and five blocks.

As a team, Minnesota hit .358, had 37 kills, seven aces, 32 digs and 14 blocks in a three-set match. Northwestern hit .113, had 31 kills, four aces, 27 digs and four blocks.
