Gophers Earn a 3-1 Win Over Northwestern

The University of Minnesota volleyball program erased an 0-1 deficit and came back to defeat Northwestern, 3-1, in Evanston, Ill. The Golden Gophers (13-2) dropped the first set, 19-25, but won the final three sets 25-15, 25-15, 25-20.Ā
The Golden Gophers had a well-balanced attack with three individuals in double-digit kills. Taylor Landfair had 14 kills and hit .400, while Stephanie Samedy followed with 12 kills and hit .367. Adanna Rollins added 10 kills and a double double with 13 digs. Regan Pittman had five kills, five aces and seven blocks. Shea RubrightĀ hit .429 and contributed six blocks. Melani Shaffmaster had 34 assists, four blocks, three kills and nine digs. Rachel Kilkelly added seven digs and two aces, while Jenna Wenaas contributed three digs.Ā
As a team, Minnesota hit .398 and had 49 digs. The Gophers also had 43 digs and 14 blocks. The Wildcats added 53 kills and hit .252. They contributed three blocks, six aces and 41 digsĀ
