MINNEAPOLIS – The Minnesota men's golf team sits in 15th place following the first two rounds of the Spartan Collegiate at Sea Island Monday at the Sea Island Resort's Plantation Course in Sea Island, Ga.

The Golden Gophers shot 17-over par 305 in the opening round, and followed with an 11-over 288 in round two, giving them a +28 604 over the first 36 holes. Notre Dame and host-Michigan State are tied for the tournament lead at 6-under 570.

Senior Angus Flanagan was the team's top performer Monday, posting a 4-over 76 in round one and a 3-under 69 to sit at 1-over through 36 holes. Currently tied for 27th, Flanagan's second round was highlighted by a stretch of four birdies in seven holes from No. 4-10, moving from even-par to 4-under as a result. He had nine birdies overall on the day.

Sophomore Connor Glynn is 8-over par and tied for 60th, opening with a 74 and then recording a 78. Round one saw him at even-par, countering three bogeys over the first 15 holes with three birdies. In the second round, he was 2-over through the first 10 holes before going +6 over the next four. He finished strongly though, posting a pair of birdies over the final four holes for the day.

One shot behind Glynn is junior Lincoln Johnson, who is +9 with a 153 to tie for 65th. In round one he birdied No. 4 but then saw three double bogeys over the remainder of his round. A stretch of five straight bogeys hampered Johnson's second round, but he was 1-under on the back nine thanks to two birdies over the final four holes.

Senior Thomas Longbella was one shot behind Johnson. Longbella is tied for 70th with a +10 154. He was 3-over on both the front and back nines in his first 18 holes, and then went 2-over on each of the front and back of his second round. He had two birdies on the day.

Though he competed at last month's Big Ten Match Play Championship, freshman Ben Warian made his collegiate debut in a stroke-play tournament. He's alone in 76th place with a +14 158, posting a 78-80. He had three birdies over his 36 holes.

Tuesday's final round will begin with a shotgun start at 7 a.m. CT. Flanagan will start on the 14th hole, while Glynn and Johnson will begin on No. 15, and Longbella and Warian will tee off on the 16th hole.
