Gophers Earn 3-2 Extra-Inning Win Over Wildcats

Amber Fiser pitched a gem of a game. She went nine innings, threw 174 pitches, struck out 12 and allowed two runs. She improves to 8-4 on the season. Autumn Pease collected her fourth save of the year when she came into the game in the 10th.
Natalie DenHartog went 1-3 with a home run and two walks. She also had three putouts. MaKenna Partain added a home run and went 1-5. Sydney Strelow also added the game-winning RBI in the 10th.

Minnesota broke the scoreless 0-0 tie when DenHartog hit a solo home run in the top of the third inning, her seventh home run of the season. The Gophers then took a 2-0 lead when Partain hit her first home run of the season in the top of the fifth for a 2-0 lead.
Northwestern, however, battled back and tied the game in the bottom of the sixth of a two-run double to right center.
The two teams would both threaten but go scoreless until the 10th inning. With Chloe Evans placed on second in the top of the 10th, she moved to third on a ground out. Evans scored off a RBI grounder from Strelow to take the 3-2 and eventual win.

With Northwestern placing a runner on second, the Gophers were able to shut down the Wildcats and hold onto the lead. Pease came into the game and forced a pop up and a strikeout for two outs. Brandt delivered the final out when she caught a line out for the game.
Minnesota and Northwestern battle again tomorrow, starting at 10 a.m. (please note the game time was moved up due to potential inclement weather).
