Gophers Finish Sixth at B1G Championships

Lauren Burrows-Cheng and Lindsay Eliasen were named All-Big Ten selections for the Gophers.
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Led by All-Big Ten selections Lauren Burrows-Cheng and Lindsay Eliasen in the First Varsity Eight boat, the No. 16 Gopher rowing program finished sixth at the 2021 Big Ten Rowing Championships on Sunday at the Indianapolis Rowing Center.
The Maroon & Gold totaled 80 points at the conference competition with the First Varsity Eight closing out day with 27 points in the final race as Minnesota finished sixth at 6:44.922. The Second Varsity Eight boat added 24 points as one of three Gopher boats to finish fifth in their races, clocking a time of 6:53.815. The First Varsity Four and Second Varsity Four boats also added fifth-place showings for the University of Minnesota with the First Varsity Four picking up 12 points at 7:43.640 and the Second Varsity Four running 7:58.672 for eight additional points.
Minnesota picked up six team points from the First Novice Eight, which finished sixth with a time of 7:09.078, while Second Novice Eight opened the day with three points for the Gophers after placing sixth and posting a time of 7:21.685.
Burrows-Cheng was named a First Team All-Big Ten pick for the Maroon & Gold while Eliasen represented the 'U' as a Second Team All-Big Ten honoree. Meade Avery was named Minnesota's recipient of the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award. All three Gophers earned their first career conference accolades at the 2021 Big Ten Rowing Championships.
