The St. Michael native is the sixth prep prospect to join the University of Minnesota for the Class of 2025.
MINNEAPOLIS – Gopher Rowing head coach Alicea Strodel has announced Abby Karger as the newest member of the Class of 2025 after the St. Michael, Minn., native signed her National Letter of Intent to attend the University of Minnesota.
A recent graduate of St. Michael-Albertville High School, Karger competed for the Knights in swimming and was a two-time state qualifier. She completed her high school career in 2021 by graduating with honors (top 25% of graduating class) while she was also a four-year member of the Honor Roll.
Karger on signing with the Gophers…
"The community that the Minnesota Rowing team has built and the sheer volume of learning opportunities that come with being part of such a dedicated team makes me very excited. I think that the people in this program will help to push me to be the best I can be, in return, I hope I can do the same for them. Row the boat!"
Coach Strodel on Karger…
"Abby is a talented swimmer whose physiology, work ethic and natural curiosity will translate well to the sport of rowing. She has an eagerness to learn and is more than willing to dive into a new sport with Gopher Rowing. We are confident she will be an asset to the novice team and look forward to working with her this upcoming season."
Karger is the sixth prep prospect to join the University of Minnesota for the Class of 2025 after Hailey Campain, Cecilie Christensen, Brooke Ruszkiewicz, Ella Saunders and Wren Wodek signed National Letters of Intent last winter.
