8/11/2021 10:00:00 AM | Gymnastics

The Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA) honored a program-record 15 Gopher women's gymnastics student-athletes as 2020-21 Scholastic All-Americans, the organization announced Wednesday.

Representing Gophers Women's Gymnastics are Maya Albertin, Kate Grotenhuis, Katie Horak, Emily Koch, Mary Korlin-Downs, Mallory LeNeave, Ona Loper, Lexi Montgomery, Abbie Nylin, Maddie Quarles, Lexy Ramler, Halle Remlinger, Tiarre Sales, Ali Sonier and Hannah Willmarth

To be a WCGA Scholastic All-American Award winner, the student-athlete must have either a yearly or cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or above. Minnesota's 15 Scholastic All-Americans are the most in program history. In 2020, the Gophers had 13 gymnasts earn this academic recognition.

Under Hansen's guidance, the women's gymnastics program reached a new height of academic achievement this year. The team earned 13 Academic All-Big Ten selections and eight gymnasts – Albertin, LeNeave, Loper, Nylin, Ramler, Remlinger, Sales and Willmarth - were honored as Big Ten Distinguished Scholars. Albertin, Loper, Ramler and Willmarth received special recognition for a perfect 4.0 spring semester GPA. The academic success continued for Loper and Ramler as they were named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District team and continued on to earn CoSIDA Academic All-America honors.

The Gopher Women's Gymnastics team posted a team grade point average of 3.6374 during the 2020-21 academic year.
