Gopher Women’s Hockey Celebrates 25 Seasons

MINNEAPOLIS - The first quarter century of Gopher Women's Hockey has been a dominant one. Since the program's first varsity season in 1997-98, the Golden Gophers have won seven national championships, ten conference regular season and seven conference tournament titles, racked up nearly 700 wins and highlighted a number of award-winning athletes. On Friday, the 'U' unveiled plans honoring the history of Gopher Women's Hockey, which will drop the puck on its 25th season Oct. 1 at Ridder Arena.
Top-25 Moments in Gopher Women's Hockey History
In recognition of the program's rich history, the top-25 moments in Gopher Women's Hockey history will be revealed throughout the season. The list will begin with No. 25 being unveiled Oct. 1 at Ridder Arena and on social media.
The No. 1 moment in program history will be unveiled during the 25-season celebration game on Feb. 5 against Bemidji State, at 4:00 pm.
25 Seasons Logo
A commemorative logo paying homage to the Gophers' 25th season and seven national championships will be used throughout the season. Look for the logo to be included on merchandise throughout the year, while additional signage will be featured throughout Ridder Arena.
Gear Up
Exclusive 25 seasons merchandise will be available during games at Ridder Arena throughout the campaign. Each home series, an exclusive 25-season merchandise item will be announced and be available at Ridder Arena.
A handful of initial 25 season items are currently available online. Use code 'GWHOCKEY15' for 15% off hockey apparel online at the Golden Gophers Fan Shop. All products will be available online at a later date.
Ticket Promotions
Be there for the 25th season of Gopher Women's Hockey and the return of fans to Ridder! A special '5 for $25' ticket mini plan is available this year. Also offered this season, groups of 25 or more will get a group photo on the ice.
All-Time Favorite Gophers Team
As Minnesota competes in its 25th season, the program will call on fans to submit a lineup of their favorite Gopher stars. More information will be announced at a later date.
