Meyers Earns Big Ten First Star Honors

Meyers leads the Gophers with 23 points in 20 games this season.
MINNEAPOLIS – Junior captain Ben Meyers has been tabbed the Big Ten First Star of the Week after leading the Gophers to a two-game sweep at Michigan State over the weekend, the conference announced on Tuesday morning.
Officially, the forward registered five points (four goals one assist) to pace the Gophers against the Spartans. Unofficially, Meyers recorded nine points (seven goals, two assists) and had four multi-point performances last week as Minnesota played won four games in seven days (including a pair of exhibition contests).
The leading scorer for the Maroon & Gold with 23 points in 20 games, Meyers matched his single-game career high with three points (two goals, one assist) in Friday's win over the Spartans before adding two more goals in Saturday's victory to seal the sweep.
A native of Delano, Minn., Meyers has four multi-point performances in the last five regular-season games while also notching points in seven of the last eight contests and nine of the last 11 games.
