Minnesota Wrestling to Host Coaches Clinic, Open Practice on October 28

MINNEAPOLIS - The University of Minnesota wrestling program will once again host their annual series of events on October 28 to kick off the upcoming 2022-23 season, headlined by a Coaches Clinic and the annual Open Practice inside Maturi Pavilion. 

The day begins at 12:00 p.m. CST with the annual Coaches Clinic being hosted inside the Minnesota wrestling room in conjunction with the Gopher Wrestling Club, and is open to coaches, wrestlers, and fans of all ages. 

The Coaches Clinic is an event designed to offer professional instruction on the fundamentals and techniques of coaching wrestling, and will feature four highly-accomplished technicians in the sport of wrestling, including 2022 World Team Member Hayden Zillmer, Gopher Wrestling Club head coach Troy Steiner, Minnesota assistant coach Zach Sanders, and former USA Wrestling national team director Mitch Hull.

Following the Coaches Clinic will be a social hour event hosted at Blarney's Pub and Grill beginning at 5:30 p.m. and will be open to the public, before the action then heads to Maturi Pavilion for Minnesota's annual open practice. 

The open practice will begin at 7:30 p.m., with doors opening at approximately 7:00 p.m, and will provide fans the opportunity to see all Gopher wrestlers, both veterans and newcomers, before the season gets underway. 

Minnesota Wrestling will see its first action of the season on Nov. 12 at the Bison Open, before hosting their first home dual the following weekend on Nov. 20 against Binghamton.
