MINNEAPOLIS -- The University of Minnesota cross country teams concluded their NCAA Cross Country seasons at the 2022 NCAA Midwest Regionals in Columbia, Mo., on Friday afternoon. The women's program finished fifth out of 33 teams while the men were ninth out of 27.

Individually the Golden Gophers were led by freshman Ali Weimer on the women's side with captain Eli Hoeft leading the men's team. Weimer finished 12th in a personal best time of 20:28.50 while Hoeft's 30:15.10 to finish 33rd was also a lifetime best. The 12th-place finish for Weimer is the highest finish at a regional by a freshman since Megan Hasz finished ninth in 2016 in Iowa City and tied Bethany Hasz's 12th place finish at that same race.

Out of Minnesota's 14 competitors on Friday afternoon, 12 registered lifetime best times.
