Gymnastics Adds Swartzmiller to 2023 Signing Class

MINNEAPOLIS – The University of Minnesota has added Sophie Swartzmiller to their 2023 signing class, head coach Jenny Hansen announced on Monday. The addition of Swartzmiller brings the signing class total to seven members, the largest ever for Gopher Gymnastics.
"We are excited to welcome Sophie to the largest class in Gopher history. She compliments our six other athletes as they are both incredible students with a passion to develop and reach their potential in our program," Hansen said.

Swartzmiller was the Level 10 all-around Wisconsin State champion in 2022. She also won the 2022 State floor title as well as finished top-2 on vault, bars and beam. Swartzmiller qualified for Level 10 Nationals in both 2022 and 2021.
The Madison native was a National Honor Society member as well. Swartzmiller signed her Acceptance of Admission form recently and intends to major in nutrition at the University of Minnesota.
"I chose the University of Minnesota for the incredible coaching staff and family-like atmosphere in the gym," Swartzmiller said. "The team dynamic and the bond the girls have with each other is truly like no other. I can't wait to be part of such an amazing team!"
