Smith Accepts East-West Shrine Bowl Invite

Defensive back has four career interceptions, has broken up 16 passes and made 109 tackles

University of Minnesota defensive back Terell Smith has accepted an invitation to play in the East–West Shrine Bowl. The annual game is one of premier postseason showcase events in college football and will be played on Feb. 2, 2023, at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. 

Smith finished fifth on the team in tackles this season with 38. He also tied for the team lead in tackles for loss with 4.5 and added two sacks. The Snellville, Ga., native had two interceptions this season, forced one fumble and broke up five passes. 

Smith played in 47 career games for the Gophers and made 109 tackles (80 solo). He made 6.5 tackles for loss and had two sacks, while breaking up 16 passes and grabbing four interceptions. Smith also forced one fumble and recovered one fumble during his career.
