Ibrahim to Compete in East-West Shrine Bowl

University of Minnesota running back Mohamed Ibrahim has accepted an invitation to play in the East–West Shrine Bowl. The annual game is one of premier postseason showcase events in college football and will be played on Feb. 2, 2023, at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
Ibrahim, who played in 11 games in 2022, finished fourth in the nation in rushing yards at 1,594 and second in the country in rushing yards per game at 144.9. He tied for second in the nation with 19 rushing touchdowns and tied for third in scoring with 10.4 points per game. He was also named First Team All-Big Ten by the coaches and the media and is a semifinalist for the 2022 Comeback Player of the Year Award.
Ibrahim was also named a Second Team All-American this season by the Associated Press, Football Writers Association of America and Walter Camp Foundation this year.
Ibrahim ranks second on Minnesota's career rushing list with 4,597 yards despite playing in only 40 games. He ranks first in school history with 52 career rushing touchdowns (ranks sixth in Big Ten history) and first in school history with 52 total touchdowns. Ibrahim ranks first in school history with five career 200-yard rushing games and is first in school history with 24 games with at least 100 rushing yards. He also set a school record with 19 straight 100-yard rushing games from Jan. 1, 2022 – Nov. 19, 2022.
Ibrahim is the fourth Gopher to accept an invitation to a showcase bowl. All-American center John Michael Schmitz will participate in the Senior Bowl, defensive back Jordan Howden will compete in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl and defensive back Terell Smith will join Ibrahim at the East-West Shrine Bowl.
